Leningraders: 900 Days in the Name of Life
On 31 January 2014, the State Orchestra will perform in the concert “Leningraders: 900 Days in the Name of Life,” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Leningrad from enemy siege. The program includes selections from the opera “The Leningraders” and Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, both by Valerian Bogdanov-Berezovsky; “The Night Watch,” a ballad by Orest Evlakhov; “Heroic Aria” by Yuri Kochurov; songs by Dmitri Shostakovich, Valery Zhelobinsky, and Boris Goltz; and works by other composers who worked in blockaded Leningrad. The concert, which will take place at the House of Unions Column Hall, will also feature The Sveshnikov Academic Choir and soloists Yuri Laptev (baritone), Michail Gantvarg (violin), and Zlata Bulycheva (mezzo-soprano). Vassily Sinaisky will conduct.
